  18. When you attempt to make your computer beep by pressiong ALT+7 (on the
  19. numeric keypad), a box character appears in your document instead.
  20.  
  21. CAUSE

  24. The ALT+7 key combination produces a beep in Windows 3.1, but produces a
  25. character that has an ASCII value of 149 in Windows NT, which appears as a
  26. box character in Windows NT.

  31. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1 and
  32. Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and
  33. will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
  34. becomes available.
